The province of Alberta is the hub of agricultural and oil production for Canada. As the host of cities like Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta offers numerous immigration streams under three categories:
Alberta Opportunity Stream
Foreign nationals who have work experience in Alberta and have an official employment offer from an employer in Alberta can apply through Alberta Opportunity Stream. There is a range of eligibility criteria regarding work experience, education, job offer and language proficiency that need to be fulfilled by applicants in order to get success in the immigration process.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
The Alberta Express Entry stream offers provincial nominations to candidates with active profiles in the federal Express Entry program. As per AINP rules, candidates who can prove strong ties to Alberta and contribute to regional economic development and diversification can successfully immigrate to Alberta through this stream.
If an Express Entry applicant receives a provincial nomination through this stream, he or she will gain a 600-point advantage to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. As a result, the applicant will have a high chance to receive an Invitation to Apply for the Canadian permanent residency program through the Express Entry draw.
AINP Self-Employed Farmer Stream
Foreign nationals who have extensive experience owning and successfully operating a farm can apply to the Alberta Self-Employed Farmer stream. Applicants must have sufficient financial resources to launch their new farming ventures in Alberta. They need to consult with the province and submit a detailed proposal for launching their agricultural farms in Alberta.
NOTE: Two AINP streams – Strategic Recruitment Stream and Employer-Driven Stream were closed by the province in June 2018.
