Travellers need to apply for a visitor visa before travelling to Canada. Besides, you may also require a visitor visa if you are transitioning through a Canadian airport towards your final destination.

How Long Will A Visitor Visa Allow You To Stay?

Visitors are allowed to stay for up to 6 months in Canada.

At the time of entry, the border services will mention the date you need to leave in your passport. In addition, they may provide you with a document called a visitor record showing the date you need to leave by.

In case you don’t get any stamp on your passport, you are allowed to stay in Canada for 6 months from the day you enter here.

Do you need a visitor visa?

Make sure if you need a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), you apply for it. The requirement for the entry document depends on:

  • Your nationality
  • The country issuing your travel document
  • The type of travel document you have with
